Does A Battery Charge At Idle. Mine charges at idle but I suspect the charging current is quite low. Your alternator produces electricity when your cars engine is running so as long as your car engine is on and your alternator is working properly your car battery will be charged.
Also keep in mind that draining your battery dead will take life out of it. You would have to allow your car to idle for possibly several hours to completely charge your battery. Just received a new battery today with same results.
Check your voltage at idle and then start to Rev up slowly.
Problem developed suddenly on Inspiron 8600. The laptop can detect battery type but is not allowing charge. However the question is will letting it idle for 20 minutes put more charge in the battery. Starting a car draws 100 to 300 amps to start a car and idling a car for 15-20 minutes will only replace 3-4 amps the car battery never gets fully charged.
